Note: This feature is available only to users with administrative permissions.
When a place where products are used/stored is not represented in the location tree, add it to the tree as a new location. The new location can be one of the following:
A top-level (or "root") location not contained by any larger/broader location. (Common examples: Whole sites, buildings, facilities.)
A sub-location contained by a larger/broader location. (Common examples: Departments, rooms, cabinets.)
After the new location is added to the tree, you can:
Assign products to it (see Editing an MSDS's Locations);
Focus product searches on it (see Browsing the Product List and Advanced Searching);
Run reports specifically on the products assigned to it (see Reports).
To add a new location to the location tree:
Starting at the Location Tree page
Select where you want to add the new location:
To add a top-level ("root") location: Select your company name at the top of the tree.
To add a sub-location: Select the location that will be the immediate parent of the new sub-location. (If a location shows a plus (+) next to its name, you can click its name to open its immediate sub-locations.)
In the box on the left, click Add Location (for a top-level location) or Add Sub-Location (for a sub-location).
A field appears for the new location's name.
Enter the new location's name.
Click Save.
The new location is added at the selected place in the tree. This location is now available for product assignments, searching, and reporting.
